Typing for Beginners — Where to Start

Everyone starts somewhere. This page walks new typists through equipment, posture, first exercises, and free tests designed for low pressure learning.

Your first week plan

Day 1–2: Learn home row keys only. Day 3–4: Add top row. Day 5–7: Add bottom row and practice short words. Use easy difficulty on TypingBit so passages stay short and forgiving.

Which language to learn first

English QWERTY is the global standard for programming and business. Tamil learners in Tamil Nadu should practice Tamil99 — each English key produces one Tamil character. German, French, and Spanish use Latin letters with accents and sometimes QWERTZ or AZERTY hardware; Chinese practice uses Hanzi passages with your system IME. TypingBit supports all of these with guided tests.
