QWERTY Keyboard Layout Explained

QWERTY is the default English layout on most computers worldwide.

Why not alphabetical?

Mechanical typewriters jammed when common letter pairs were too close. QWERTY spaced frequent pairs. Modern keyboards keep the layout for compatibility, not ergonomics perfection.
