Finger Position and Posture for Typing

Good posture prevents tendon strain and helps you type longer without fatigue.

Neutral wrists

Wrists should float slightly above the desk, not rest on sharp edges while typing. A soft palm rest is for breaks between sentences, not for leaning while keys are pressed.

Chair and desk height

Elbows near ninety degrees with shoulders relaxed. Feet flat on the floor or on a footrest. Screen top near eye level so you are not bending your neck for hours.

Finger curvature and force

Strike keys with light pressure from the finger pad, not heavy punches from the whole arm. Quiet typing is often faster typing because you are not fighting the keyboard.
