A Daily Typing Practice Routine
Short consistent sessions beat occasional marathon practice for skill retention.
Sample twenty-minute session
Minutes 0–3: easy warm-up in your target language. Minutes 3–12: one medium or hard timed test focusing on rhythm. Minutes 12–17: retry problem keys using a short custom paragraph if available. Minutes 17–20: slow cool-down with perfect accuracy.
Weekly review
Once a week, screenshot or write down your best and average WPM. Adjust difficulty when averages plateau for ten days.
Rest and recovery
Take one full rest day per week from timed tests. Light untimed copying of a favorite paragraph keeps rhythm without score pressure.
Hydrate and stretch forearms between sessions. Fatigue shows up as accuracy drops on the last third of a passage before WPM drops — that pattern means you need a break, not a harder test.
